On behalf of our client, one of the top five ENR-ranked engineering firms, we are seeking a High Voltage Substation Project Engineer to join their team. This firm is recognized for its commitment to delivering innovative, reliable power infrastructure solutions across the industry. This role is ideal for an experienced substation design professional with a focus in either Physical Design or Protection & Controls who's ready to take on leadership responsibilities and deliver high-quality projects.

Role Overview:
The selected Project Engineer will play a key role in managing substation projects, leading a team of 8 engineers, and ensuring that all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards. The ideal candidate will bring at least 8 years of hands-on experience in high voltage substation engineering and a proven ability to lead a team effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Design Leadership:
    Oversee comprehensive substation design activities, focusing on Physical Design or Protection & Controls. Ensure that all designs meet technical specifications, industry standards, and client requirements.

  • Project Timeline & Budget Management:
    Develop, monitor, and manage project schedules, budgets, and resources. Address any issues promptly to prevent delays or budget overruns, maintaining a strong focus on efficient project delivery.

  • Team Leadership & Development:
    Lead and mentor a team of 8 engineers, fostering a collaborative, high-performance work environment. Guide team members in achieving their project milestones and professional development goals.

  • Client Liaison & Relationship Building:
    Serve as the primary point of contact for client communications, providing regular project updates, managing expectations, and ensuring client satisfaction.

  • Quality Control & Compliance:
    Ensure that project outputs meet high standards of quality and comply with industry regulations. Review designs and documentation to maintain alignment with client and regulatory expectations.

  • Risk Management & Safety Assurance:
    Proactively identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies. Uphold stringent safety and environmental standards across all project activities.

  • Continuous Improvement:
    Keep abreast of industry advancements, regulatory changes, and emerging best practices. Introduce innovative solutions to enhance project efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure sustainable practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in high voltage substation design, with expertise in Physical Design or Protection & Controls.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, with experience using tools like MS Project or Primavera.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with a track record of managing engineering teams successfully.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective client and team interactions.
